Sonatrach has always supported sports development in Algeria through a sponsoring policy in accordance with the global strategy of the Group.

Actions to sustain national efforts for sports development include the following fields:

• Neighbourhood sports and recreation areas: Sonatrach sponsoring related to sport practice development are also extended to all youth through financing a lot of neighbourhood sports fields in various provinces and counties throughout the country.
  
  
• Elite Athletes: Sonatrach sponsors professional sports persons who convey, by their performance, a positive image of Algeria trough the promotion of their success in the world competition.
  
  
• Support of sports Associations and institutions: Sonatrach sponsors various sports Associations as well as the Algerian Olympic Committee.
  
  
• Petroleum Sports Grouping of Sonatrach: created in June 2nd, 2008, the Petroleum Sports of Grouping of Sonatrach includes 13 sporting sections previously part of MCA club which was sponsored by Sonatrach. Through the Petroleum Sports Grouping, Sonatrach launched a training program in favour of young sports persons in 200 areas nationwide. The program involves 20000 youth including 1000 girls, aged between 7 and 13. They are coached by 950 specialists. The first out come of this program is that one hundred of these athletes became members of national clubs.
